The following is a preview of the review of Sheri's CD by Christopher Amos that will appear in the September issue of Country Line Magazine. |
|
When the new CD from singer Sheri Tesar came across my desk, I thought "what is SHE still doing in town?" I had seen Tesar perform two years ago and even then thought how talent this deep is usually swept up quickly by Nashville. Her new release, A Whole Lotta Things, may be her ticket. |
|
A Whole Lotta Things is not rock/country, and it is not honky tonk.
Tesar has a soulful country voice with dash of Gospel. |
|
She shines on Whole Lotta Things with well chosen standards and several
self penned originals. "When One And One Make Three" is an absolute treasure, and "Happily Ever After" and "I Get Intoxicated (With Your Kiss)" are other originals that show off her writing ability. Other cuts include "Faded Love," "Wabash Cannonball," and others. |
| Sheri Tesar contributes to her own music with saxophone, fiddle, and keyboards, and guitar. Other instrumentation is produced by Darren Brown, owner of Sounds Great Studio, and Bobby Blackburn. She is currently accepting bookings as a solo act to help market the new CD (817) 581-9113. |

| Sheri Tesar - Whole Lotta Things - This album was produced by Darren Brown & Sheri Tesar and was recorded and mastered at Sounds Great Productions. |
| This young lady has been earning awards consistently for the past several years. Talent in a variety of areas is displayed on this album, from vocalizing to instrumentation and songwriting. |
| Sheri's ability to set her lyrics to complimentary tunes clearly spotlights her songwriting talent. There are no sound-alikes among those originals, which show a variety of promising values in the Country, Pop, Crossover, and Gospel markets. The display of these early-on artistic abilities indicates the possibilities of a great future songwriter. |
| The overall favorite song on this album seemed to be "I Get Intoxicated" (With Your Kiss), a bluesy country sound with Crossover potential, which would have been our choice for her title cut. |
| The old time favorite cover tunes Sheri selected are songs that readily reveal her diversified instrumentation abilities. |
| Overall, this project is a good first effort and shows songwriting talent and versatility, which could well lead to a very promising career in that area. |
| Lots of luck to you Sheri! You have our full support at L.S.M.A. |

Sheri Tesar - A Whole Lotta Things - Produced by Darren Brown and Sheri
Tesar and recorded at Sounds Great studio in White Settlement. |
| A Whole Lotta Things gives Sheri an opportunity to show her versatility and talent - not only through vocals, but with Alto Sax, Fiddle, and Keyboards. |
| She does a great bluesy arrangement of Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. Five of the songs are penned by Sheri. Happily Ever After is an upbeat waltz that makes you want to get on the dance floor. |
| Sheri has given a lift to the old favorite Wabash Cannonball with a little fiddle, a little yodel and a little sax intertwined. A good presentation overall. |
