In 1996, the construction of Dairyfield Farm began. Norman and Sallie expanded their herd from 250 cows to 500 cows by purchasing and leasing 250 heifers. A new dairy center was built on the 40 acres across the road from the homestead. The new Dairyfield Farm cow barn contained 495 stalls for lactating cows. The new milking center complex also held a double twelve herringbone parlor. A large holding area was constructed to hold cows as they waited to be milked. New bunker silos for storing forages were made near the barn too. A large manure storage pond for holding manure was dug. Additional feeding and cleaning equipment was purchased too.
