Alias: The third 'Spider-Woman'. She also cross-dressed and masqueraded as Spiderman for a short time.

Least favorite storyline: I am none too fond of Mattie's origin; mostly because I do not believe she is deserving of her own title when we already have two very capable Spider-Women.
Favorite storyline: Mattie confronting the reality-warping Exomorph was good; he wasn't really evil, just misguided and tired of being a victim. The high-light of Mattie's book, however, is probably the supporting role by Jessica Drew as a detective and mentor to Mattie.
Favorite quote: Jessica Drew: "We always thought of him as the villain of the piece..."
Mattie: "When he was really the greatest victim of them all..." -- Spider-Woman #??, about Exomorph.
Powers: Powers are derived from the abilites of the two previous Spider-women in the Gathering of the Five; Mattie can fly, wall-crawl, shoot venom blasts and psi-webs, hypnotize, and pocesses great super-strength. Mattie can also manifest 'spider legs' from her back that grant her extra speed and agility.

Where can she be seen?: Mattie is currently the proud owner of one of Marvel's rather rare solo female books. She is staring in her own Spider-Woman title. She also pops in occasionaly in Spiderman. However, her title has recently been cancelled, two years into its run.
Spider-Woman 3 links: Read's Spider-Woman page is a very nice looking site with oodles 'o' info on Mattie, her friends, foes, and family. Highly recomended for your viewing pleasure. |
