Jedi Quest #1: The Way of the Apprentice - Jude Watson

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

The Story:

Anakin Skywalker and his Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as three other masters and their Padawans, are sent by the Jedi Council on a mission to a world infected by a deadly toxin. But when the apprentices are separated from their Masters, the Padawans must work together. But young Anakin is very independent. Will they all be able to rejoin and save the planet?

Review:

Well, there was nothing exceptionally great about this one, though there was nothing particularly bad either. As usual, it lacked detail, but it is a kid’s book. But when new species are introduced, we are given hardly any explanation of their appearance at all. I was left wondering the whole time what the characters looked like. I did, however, really like the ending.

This book has its fair share of typos, including Tattooine (which should be Tatooine), Illum (Ilum), and sabaac (sabacc). And I’m assuming the cover was flipped (or at least Anakin was) intentionally. But the problem with flipping Padawans is that their braid ends up on the left, when it should be on the right. Also, Anakin is holding his lightsaber in his left hand, which only further shows that this picture was flipped.

While this is technically the second book, it is a good start and this looks like a promising series.
