Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu - L. Neil Smith

Rating: 2 out of 5

The Story:

This book was written before Return of the Jedi was released, so at the time, Lando was a very underdeveloped character. But in this book, Lando is a gambler who can't even fly his own ship! So, he requires the help of a tentacled pilot droid named Vuffi Raa. Lando gets arrested for entering a system with mynocks on his ship and it all goes downhill from there. They end up in a very weird place, and, well, I'll just let ya read it for yourself (hardcore or really really bored fans only).

Review:

Lando called Han an "old pirate" one time in the movie. He calls everybody an "old something or another" in the book ("old pencil sharpner" for one). It really gets annoying after a while. As does the line "don't call me master". It starts to wear out after a few chapters.

The other thing is the talking hall. It made me think of cartoons like Rocky and Bullwinkle or George of the Jungle. Too corny for me. Actually, the whole book is more like a cartoon. I think a better title for this series would be THE ANIMATED ADVENTURES OF LANDO CALRISSIAN!
