A FISHERMAN'S PRAYER
Lord, I'm not sitting in my boat on the water this morningintending to fish. I'm out hereto have a talk with You. I cansomehow feel Your Presence herein the stillness and quietso much stronger than I can amidthe rumble and roar of the city.I know You're everywhere, Lord, this just happens to be my wayand I thank You for knowing that.
I don't know what is going to happenin the future to all these nature thingsof Your's and I'm worried. I know thatman is merely a guardian of Your things, and I'm at the point where I believethat man has forgotten just exactlywhat the word "guardian" means. In the old days, when one was appointedguardian of someone, it meant that hewatched over them with all possible care.In the case of monies, only the interest was allowed to be spent and the principleremained intact to be turned over to someone when he became mature enough to manage it. I kind of thinkthat is what You intended for man to do with those things of Yoursof which You made him guardian. Use the interest and keep the principle intact.
I don't know what we can do, Lord, except to pray that You help usto help ourselves. Sometimes, in the faceof money and progress, a lot of us feeljust downright hopeless. At these timeswe would get off and let it all go by.Lord, help us to stay on and battle adversity, because, if those of uswho care don't stay, then those thingsthings we care about can't.
Help us to use the interestfrom Your gifts wisely and welland never to forget their sourceAnd when our time is done and ourchildren's time has come, help usto hand the principle over in its completeness.
Thank You for life- what ithas been and what it will be.
