MEMORIES - By Michael Rock
A flood of memories
Raining down on me
With each drop pelting on me and adding weight
Weight, to weigh me down
Great, just great!
More weight on my shoulders
There were a few good memories in those years
But, not many
My heart growing heavier and heaving
Swelling
But not with pride, but with hurt
Who'll take this pain away from me?
I scream out, knowing no one will hear
I thought I found my true love
Only to have her let me go
Reminded of my high school years
brought lots of pain
Compounded by present problems
The past is the past
Leave it behind
But it's so etched, it can't be erased by the tide of time
I see a ray of hope
I'll ride the rays of light slowly, patiently
Taking care not to have any dependance on the ray
Eventually, time will heal me
And that's when I will embrace the light and let it be
Being safely able to join again. . .
