Weapon: Shinken (Diety's Sword) which is virtually indestructable. It can not only deflect almost any "ki" blow effectively, but also act as a regular two handed sword.

Power: He was an excellent swordsman.

Appearance: A tall handsome guy with long brown hair and deep brown eyes. He carried Shinken everywhere he went when he was a senshi.

Personality: As an emperor, he is well loved by his subjects and people. He took his position as an emperor very seriously and was deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of his people. Not only ruled his country well, but he also lead his army in the battle. He married Houki partially because he needed a successor. Although he never love Houki (Miaka was his one and only love), he still treated her very good. He never managed to see his unborn child's face as he died in the battle field while trying to protect both his country and Miaka's world from the ambitious Nakago.

On the other hand, he is a devoted lover too. He protected Miaka with his life even thought he knew that Tamahome is the only one she love. During his last breath, he gave Tamahome and Miaka his blessing and died, saying "I love you" to Miaka.

Family: 2 older brothers, 1 younger brother and 2 younger sisters.

Background: Being the head of the country, he was raised among adults hence this explains the reason why he acts older than his age. A lonely person who was trained so that when he takes the throne as an emperor he becomes cool and majestic. Having known since childhood that he was a seishi, he was maneuvered by his mother into becoming an emperor. He succession the throne when he was 14 years old. He lived a very sheltered life and was somehow unaware of life outside the palace. He lived his entire life surrounded by people who wanted things from him because of his position. His one and only wish is to find someone who loves him for what he is and not who he is. Ever since he was a boy, he hoped that Suzaku no Miko would be that someone special who can cure his loneliness. But, Miaka turned him down when he professed his love for her.

Digression: A long time ago in China, there was a lake called Odoniru (spelled with the same characters as Hotohori).
