Listen To What I Say

So, my teen, you think you know it all,
But my heart breaks knowing you will fall.
You cannot learn from someone else's mistake,
But listen child, for your future is at stake.
I am so afraid of your teenage choices,
All you seem to hear are your friends voices.
You are my one and only precious dear,
And your life gone astray, is what I fear.
No longer do you listen to what I say,
When you are out all night, I sit and pray.
Are you only going through a passing phase,
Or is this just another teenage craze?
Today, you think you are a leader and cool,
But tomorrow, you could be considered a fool.
Believe me, as your Mother I am not mistaken,
For I do know that many a road must be taken.
Know that I am here for you my whole life long,
To guide you and see that you do not go wrong.
There are choices that you have not made yet,
That may be the ones you will come to regret.
Please, I beg you my teen, do not run wild,
Stay close to me always, my precious child!
