Philip Treacy is without a doubt one of my most favourite genuises (in the design world) and uniquely talented artists in this universe! Soft-spoken and private, Treacy is nonetheless a true daredevil in his career field. Born in County Galway, Ireland, in 1967, Treacy studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin before snagging a scholarship to London's Royal College of Art in 1988. The spunky originality of the creations at his first shop, at 69 Elizabeth Street in London, immediately grabbed the attention of designers like John Galliano, Valentino and Karl Lagerfeld, with who Treacy has collaborated on Chanel's couture and ready- to-wear collection for the past six years. Today, Treacy not only works with such new fashion blood as Alexander McQueen and Bella Freud, he also lists private clients like Anjelica Huston and Jerry Hall. Treacy's artistic gift is shown through his debut of his accessory line which include hair ornaments, scarves, gloves, bags but most of all hats! And even though his out-of-this-world accessories are not the kind of products you would rush to buy as soon as they hit the stores, they are incredibly "exhibit-ish" and inspirational. The 30-year-old designer, who lives and works in London, creates chapeaux that embrace fantasy and surrealism with an incredible energy. His hats appear to grow out of the head in an organic yet otherworldly fashion.
