How does one Become a Member of the Hellfire Club?
To become a candidate for the Inner Circle, is truely an almost unprecidented honor in and of it's self. The Hellfire Club focuses on welth and power, and only the best and most ruthless have what it takes to be nominated for the Inner Circle. Current personal welth... and to a degree, morals can be ammended to suite the Club sbould one be found worthy for other reasons such as sheer power, as in the instance of the Phoenix/Dark Phoenix saga.
What's up with the crazy costumes?
As a show of disdane for the morals of modren society, The Hellfire Club tends to adopt attire of the 18th century, a time, apperentaly when people were a bit wilder. Years from now, who knows, in the same vein, they may be picking fros (the decidance of the late 1970's) as opposed to donning powered wigs.
Explain their ranking system, please.
Serving under the Lord Imperial, the now late Sir Gordon Philips, there is an apperant zig-zaging pecking order, the New York branch leads off with the Black King, Sebastion Hyrum Shaw. Then to White King, Eric Magnus Linshire (Magneto), and presumably back and forth from there.
The titles are derived form chess pices in opposing colors, from King, to Queen, Bishop, Knight(?), to Rook.
Why the question mark next to Knight?
Of all the members ever shown in the comics, none have ever bore the title of Knight. Why is unrevealed.
What about the little guys up front? the Pawns?
likely due to modren venacular of the word "pawn" indicating pice of little worth to be used in manipulation, there is no official position for pawn. after all, is not the whole idea of the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle that of using all others to sieze control?
On a side note, the Hellfire Club once, under the guidance of then White Queen, Emma Frost, trained a group of young mutants in the use fo their powers likely with the possibility of them eventualy accending to the Inner Circle. In that manner, the HELLIONS could be concidered the pawns.
Is New York it? or is the Club world-wide?
Branches of the Club have been mentioned in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Brazil. However the only other one apperentaly sporting an Inner Circle is the London branch.
