NEW DONATIONS TO OUR MUSEUM
General view of the three central display cases.
Palaeolithic stone implements from northern Egypt.
Fragments of decorated pottery from Tell el Amarna.
Fragments of decorated pottery form the New Kingdom palace of Malkata.
Fragments of pottery from Western Asiatic sites.
Fragments of pottery from Jericho (Israel).
Fragments of decorated and undecorated pottery from sites in Jordan.
A description and interpretation of all these objects will be found in our museum catalogue. As it can easily be seen, many still have traces or much of the original pigments that had decorated them, which together with the very nature of the material in every case, makes of these mostly modest archaeological artefacts, research subjects on which chemical and other analyses can be carried out, thus enhancing their value as examples of ancient Egyptian (or occasionally other) cultural manifestations.
We intend to fulfil to the full extent of our means, both duties towards these objects, as a source of direct appreciation by the public and our students, doing our best to ensure an adequate conservation and display, making them all available to everyone, and also to extract from them all possible information which could be relevant to a wide range of specialized studies.
