Red Earth Memories
And when my bare feet
touched the earth,
sanguine as sun whispering
lullabies to day,
potentates of magnitude
beyond the jeweled sky
spread their wealth
before me.
I chose green fields
and forest free,
wooded hollows gurgling
songs of languid streams,
dizzy skies that spun above me
and the smell of green grass growing.
I chose the red earth paths,
ragweed lined,
with diadems of golden angle hair,
and saplings swaying
beneath my weight,
paths that led to passions
day dreamed
to reality.
