Volcanic Ash
While in Anchorage in 1992 a volcano named Mt. Spur, about 80-90 miles NW of Anchorage, erupted and dropped a layer of ash aprox 1/8 to 1/4 inch on Anchorage.
These pics are as the ash cloud began moving in at early afternoon.
These pics are just before we went into a full blackout as the ash cloud covered Anchorage.
The following pics were taken the next day, August 19, 1992. Pat is my Loving Wife who was caught at the Seattle airport (with our two babies, Katie & Allen) till flights could start comming into Anchorage again.
