CVRT Scorpion
In New Zealnd Service
These photos were taken at the 1 Scots compound, Burnham Camp in the
South Island of new Zealand. Prior to the vehicles being moved to the west
coast (Hokitara) excercise area for the 1990/1991 excercise "Ivanhoe".
The vehicles were parked under trees making the conditions less than ideal
for photography. The vehicles show are all ones based at Waiouru in the
central North island. The vehicles carry a 4 colour camouflage scheme which
varies from vehicle to vehicle.

The shot above shows some interesting details from the hull rear.
The black and white plate with LD 1927 is a civilian registration plate
required when the tanks operate on public roads. Note the spare sprocket
ring and spare wheel mounted beneath the rear stowage bin. An M113 can
be seen in the left background.

The shot above shows the general layout of stowage carried by operational
vehicles. The chains entwine a section of spare tracks. Note the 76mm gun
barrel is painted black. A read and yellow flash appears on the right rear
stowage bin of this Scorpion.

A useful if somewhat dark shot showing the frontal layout including
the headlights. This vehicle appears to be named 'Allamo' while the one
behind looks like 'Alien'

A view from the other side. Again lighting is a problem with this shot.
Note the spare tracks again and the turret smoke dischargers. This vehicle
mounts the headlights in a different position to the vehicle in a previous
shot and also carries a searchlight on the gun mantlet.
