Running a FULL house of Fuzzies
THE ROOMAs you can see ((pics comming soon)) lots of poop pans. 8 in all. I got an old desk and in the 2 bottom drawers I have them open just enough for a fuzzie to hide and nap.It has soft things to curl up and under.
In the top 2 drawers I have all the fuzzies beding and some other things I don't want them to play with but I need in the room.
I put up a hammock that hangs down between the 2 bottom drawers (I think it gets used tho I've never seen anyone in it)
On the bed I have 2 blankets folded up the fuzzies love to play in and under them and even nap.
I have 3 PVC pipes with elbows that I can move around.I move them around the room once a week...it keeps em guessing.
On the floor I have an long piece of carpet and at one end I have it curled up to make a tunnle.
I don't think one fuzzie would like this room as much as 4 do.When I'm home all 4 can go in and out of this room but when I'm gone or sleeping 3 share this room. Gizmo,Taz and Cosmo.
I need a toy box...theres alot out there to pick from but I just haven't found one right for me so I use a box.
THE CAGE
It's just a simple cage with something soft to curl up and under and something soft on the bottom to sit on and look around.I use old shirts and towles for my fuzzies bedding.
I have it sitting on a big spool. No one usese this cage but Tinker Bell. She gets picked on so much....she's out when the other fuzzies are but this way I can keep an eye on her and keep her safe when I'm gone or sleeping.
I have a poop pan in the cage also and this moves us into the useful Tips part of this page....
Tip 1
I put a plastic dust pan under the other side of the cage opposite of the poop pan thats in it. This way the poop doesn't get on the floor. I also put a little cat litter in the dust pan (not too much about a handful does it) and also the poop pans I have 8 in all.
Tip 2
This should be more of a rule then a tip. If it smells like a poop spot its gonna be a poop spot. Keeping it CLEAN is the key.If you see that a fuzzie isn't useing the pan clean up the spot really well and move the pan over some. Or you might want to clean out the pan...if a fuzzie thinks its too full he/she will poop next to it.
Tip 3
Put a rug of some kind down and put the fuzzie's water and food dish on it. This makes for easy clean up ....as you should know by now fuzzie's eat like PIGS!! If I could only get just ONE fuzzie to eat over the food dish that would be great!! Some fuzzie's will take the food out of the dish and run and hide to eat it.
Tip 4
Watch what you wash your fuzzie's bedding in...I use Ivory Snow. You don't want to use something too strong. Keep the bedding clean. If your fuzzie is in a cage switch out the bedding about 2 times a week. Its a good thing to have lots of bedding so your not washing fuzzie bedding all week...so think twice about giving that old sweat or T shirt away.
Tip 5
Plastic bags from the grocery store save them and put them in a pillow case and pin it up (((with something safe))) Your fuzzie will LOVE it!!And if you need a bag for trash BOOM you have one.
Tip 5
An old box can make a cool toy for your fuzzie. Like shoe boxes...you can tape some together and make a tunle. Cut holes at both ends and tape em all together...the holes don't have to be too big ((looking at ferret rule number one IF HIS HEAD FITS THROUGH.....THE REST WILL FOLLOW!!))
Tip 6
Ferret poop pans can cost so to save money I found a plastic dish pan. I think its used to wash dishes in or for just cleaning but I cut out about 5 inches on one side and now I have a poop pan for half the cost.It still has high sides and thats what you need and also easy getting in and out. I think the big ferret poop pan I got at the pet store was 9 bucks maybe and 7 for the small one and this way cost me 3 bucks. The sides are not as tall as in the ferret poop pans but its high enough.
Tip 7
If your fuzzie is camra shy just put alittle ferravite on something and your fuzzie will give you a BIG sweet smile.
Tip 8
Old socks make a good Tug-a-war toy. Tie one in a knot or get about 4 or 5 of them and sew em all togehter for lots of safe fun.
If you have any good tips just email me and I'll put them up.
