DC's
Web Page...
DC is one of the strangest cats I have ever known. He thinks he is a big, tough dog. He likes to go for walks with us down to the river. Whenever there is a dog around, he teaches it to respect cats. In fact, Gary trained his dog to leave cats alone by bringing him over to see DC. Now the dog won't go near cats. But, when Denise's little toddler laid down on top of DC, he just sat there and purred. Apparently, when the little girl came back another day, DC nonchalantly stuck her with a claw. But, I'm sure he intended it for a warning, and not to deliberately hurt her. A cat has to have his say somehow.
DC is a cross-eyed siamese cat. He can't see very well, so he takes a lot of guff from the men in the family who all have a little cruel streak in them. But DC remembers the people who have picked on him. He likes to hide under Jim's bed, wait till he gets in, and then pounce on him. Sometimes, he just swipes at his ankles from under the bed. Or, if someone else has been picking on him, he waits until you think he is all lovey, and then grabs your hand with his claws. Very smart, this little guy is. Of course, if you treat him nice, he gets all mushy and snuggly.
DC never can tell what is going on. Andre bought him a toy, a plastic donut with a ball that spins around inside it. He just stares at it like he can't quite figure it out. But, drag a twig along the ground and you can entertain him for hours.
DC is about ten years old, and he is still spry and playful. The other day, Andre, Patty and I were watching TV when DC was suddenly irritated by the presence of his tail. There was a good ten minutes of spinning, catching and falling before he finally stretched himself out as far away as possible from that annoying tail, and pretended to ignore it. By that time, we all had tears streaming down our faces from laughter. What a sweet little clown!
