Louie and Jennie's Engagement

Written by Linda Gardino on August 21, 1999

Today we celebrated my 32nd birthday......again! In fact, we've celebrated this birthday so many times that even I forget just how old I actually am! -- My mom was here along with our oldest son Louie and his girlfriend Jennie to help Frank and I celebrate.

Jennie prepared a wonderful stuffed chicken dinner complete with all the trimmings, so we feasted to our heart's content on the main course, pasta, salad, tomatoes, celery, cantaloup, honeydew melon, strawberries, chocolate torte cake, cherry pie, and more.

I hadn't expected any gifts, so I was pleasently surprised to receive several pairs of nylons and knee-highs from my mom. That'll give me a good excuse to run out and buy a dress now, won't it?! -- Jennie and Louie brought a big bowl filled with goodies that included gummy bears, white chocolate covered pretzils, chocolate covered raisins and chocolate covered assorted nuts, both red and black Redvines licorice, and two movies: "The Truman Show" starring Jim Carrey and "Jerry MaGuire" staring Tom Cruise.

Also in the bowl was a birthday card, and then stuck down between a couple of the goodies was a smaller card. This is what the inscription read: "From your son Louie and future daughter-in-law Jennie."

What? I couldn't believe my eyes! Was Louie and Jennie using this format to announce their engagement? Sure enough! I was so happy that I wanted to jump up and down, scream and holler, and turn summersalts, but I couldn't so I just grinned and gave them hugs!!!

They have set the date for May 21, 2000......they're definately Y2K compatible.......and they'll be getting married at a mansion in Maple Valley with our pastor Dan Tanner officiating. The wedding and reception will both be limited to the number of people attending, but I now have a reason to shed some pounds!!!

We're so overjoyed that I don't think I'll stop grinning for at least a month, so if you see me with that silly grin on my face it's only because WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A DAUGHTER!!!

This is the best birthday present ever! Thank you, Louie and Jennie, for making this a special day for me!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!

We love you, Louie and Jennie!

As my Cyber Angel Patti would say:

Woooooooohooooooooo!!!
