Petsburgh

I recently had the pleasure of meeting some women who are very near and dear to my heart. We began as a bunch of pet chatters and that common bond developed into strong friendships. Meeting face to face bore no great surprises for me, so I guess we truly are ourselves in our secret room. *S* We talked and laughed until our jaws and bellies ached, and shopped till we dropped. All of this took place with mouse's beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains as a backdrop.
The weekend began on Friday, September 24th with most of us flying from different States and I from Ontario, Canada.

Our Host and Hostess were Mr. and Mrs. Mouse. They met each one of us at our gates at the airport in Denver. This entailed alot of running around on their part!
Once the gang was all present and accounted for, we boarded mouse's van and headed out for a 2 hour drive up into the mountains to reach our final destination. The trip up the mountain allowed us time to unwind and enjoy the scenery. We saw rainbows, and herds of deer and elk. The aspens were turning yellow, there were red and white pine literally growing out of the rock.
The best site met us at the end of our journey ; Barbara's Bed & Breakfast. This was to be our home away from home until Monday, and it was beautiful! Tucked amongst the mountains in beautiful Estes Park Colorado, it is the homiest place on earth! We were treated like family and the rooms and suites were decorated to perfection with antiques, crafts, and had views that would inspire an artist!
I never saw so much tongue and groove pine panelling! Even the ceilings were panelled. The suites included a cozy stone fireplace. That, with the beamed ceilings and lovely furnishings & decor made each suite and cabin into an absolute dollhouse!

A walk to the cabin where our breakfast was served, was an extroidinary experience for us City girls. It's not every day that you share the path with deer! Not to mention little critters like this one,

Here we all are!
Back Row: Willow, mouse, Shy
Sofa: Deertree, Meangene, Wicket, Gatos
Floor: Me (Zip), Sarah, Sarahbear
Others had planned to come, but were forced to change their plans. Missing and missed were marjo, georgecat, senbob, ento, Kitty, Sam1, mitz, kolohe, & Pywackit. There are others as well that we will cajole into coming next year! (You hear that Rajah?)

Now who could not develop an appetite in a big hurry after seeing this dining room? From the windows we viewed the deer and a 10 point buck coming to feed.
Breakfast was homecooked by the owner, Barbara. It consisted of pitchers of juice, yogurt, fruit, pancakes with butter & syrup, home-fried potatoes, eggs scrambled or as a wonderful crustless quiche, thick sliced of bacon, and sausage. Every morning a homemade cinnamon roll awaited us. It was incredible! We topped this off with coffee while planning our day and watching the deer.

The doe on the left greeted Deertree by appearing at her door, and having a look inside Deertree's room. I guess the doe knew a great fan of her breed when she saw one. The buck on the left is a regular visitor to Barbara's Bed & Breakfast. He and the herd are known as Mule Deer, thus explaining the large ears. What an addition to an already magical vacation.
