D.N : I suppose what most people want to know first up Gordon, would be the Rangers - Seven Stars game ... what went wrong?
GORDON IGESUND :
We played according to our gameplan in the first half, in the face of extremely difficult conditions - winds which we were not accustomed to, and the reflection on TV of the ball bobbing around does'nt do justice to what it was actually doing out there. We decided to keep the game tight in the first half while we were playing into a strong wind, and then take our opportunities in the second with the wind at our backs. Unfortunately, we still were'nt able to master the conditions in the 2nd half, something which Seven Stars managed to do and lead to our downfall.

D.N : The goals seem to have dried up now for Kerryn Jordan and Gilbert Mushangazike - and it might be said that both have if somewhat temporarily lost their form. Could this be in part to their training or have other factors crept in ?
GORDON IGESUND :
I dont really think that it is their training as such - but more so that the players are now leg weary, and you could almost see that in their performance during the Seven Stars match. If you look at the statistics, we have played something like 15 more games in total than any other team in the Premier League, and it is starting to show on some of the players.

D.N : Ted Dimitru does'nt seem to want to let go of the post match incidents at Loftus Versveld following the Rangers-Sundowns game. Your comments on his recent Public Relations letters in the various newspapers and sporting magazines ?
GORDON IGESUND :
I'm not a retaliatory person, but I will defend my players, my integrity and club - but this incident is better left buried.

D.N. : How would you describe yourself Gordon, as a 'player coach' or a 'disciplinarian coach' then?
GORDON IGESUND :
A bit of both. I think I can call myself a player coach because I carefully relate to each player what and how I want things done from his part. We have a good relationship, in that from the very beginning we know where each other stands as the lines are drawn. But also, there has to be discipline in a team - specifically in the way of training because if a player is dedicated in training it will inadvertantly creep into his game as well - which will turn, always make him a better player.

D.N. : Finally, Orlando Pirates. Thats on everyones lips at the moment - because following the SAFAs bumbling of the national coaching position you are tipped to succeed an unsuccessful season of Victor Bondarenko at The Buccaneers ?
GORDON IGESUND :
Unfortunately, this has to remain under wraps at the moment due to the sensitive nature of the situation and I have no comment - other than to say that my immediate plans are to win the League with Manning Rangers - a club which has been very good and accomodating to me.

D.N : But supposing, the Pirates offer is one that is more substantial, financially than your current contract at Rangers ??
GORDON IGESUND :
Rangers have been very good to me these last couple of years and we have had an excellent relationship. Having said that, it takes a lot more than mere financial rewards to coach a club - a good working relationship with the club and players , as well as, a job that possesses the challenge that is need is what I use as prerequisites when coaching a club.
