Mid-war Spencer Rifle Cartridge Label

Mid-war Spencer Rifle Cartridge Label

Each box of Spencer-supplied ammunition was made of tan cardboard and held 42 rimfire cartridges. The boxes measured 4.5" x 2" x 4" deep. Contained therein were six unlabeled cardboard packets holding seven cartridges each. The following label example is from ammunition that was manufactured by Crittenden & Tibbals in 1863. The label was of a tan color with black lettering.
