Every year at our championship match, we give two awards for outstanding x-treme croquet play. Since the Berkeley version of this sport is communally-oriented (we are well left of center after all), these awards represent a chance for individuals to shine in their own, special ways.
Inspired by Happy Gilmore's* miracle shot on the last hole, the Happy Gilmore* Award is given to the player who takes the most x-treme shot during the championship match.
Inspired by the resident course gopher, the Caddyshack *Award is presented to the player who does the most damage to the course during championship round play. Damage to equipment does not count.
YEAR | Happy Gilmore* Awardee | Caddyshack* Awardee |
1999 | Tom Bevington | Cherie Kilian |
* Although these awards are inspired by big-budget Hollywood features, we could not be more vigorous in our support of independent film. Moreover, our glorification of characters created and owned by large movie studios in no way should be construed as support for those studios, corporate America, or even capitalism. We are based in Berkeley for goodness sake!
