Overview: Family Hesperiidae
Family Hesperiidae is one of the more unusual Families of butterflies known to me.
Structurally, they are sometimes quite similar to moths, and other forms have closer links to
more primitive species of butterflies than any other Family.
This Family numbers in the thousands of species, and is found throughout the world. Many may
be familliar with the term 'skippers' which is used to describe most members of this Family.
Coloration is generally brownish or orangish with a few rare exceptions of blue or green.
