Butterfly Information
Family Brassolidae
Overview: Family Brassolidae
This is the smallest Family I am currently aware of. It's members include just about 80 species which frequent the Neotropics.
These butterflies are usually flitting about at dusk, or (in rare cases) about dawn. This would suggest to me that they are extremely light-sensitive.
The undersides of their dull-brownish wings are generally pattered with huge eyespots.
Also of note.. There are some of the largest of butterflies contained within this Family.

Genus Brassolis Genus Dynastor Genus Penetes Genus Narope Genus Catoblepia Genus Selenophanes Genus Opsiphanes Genus Opoptera Genus Eryphanis Genus Caligopsis Genus Caligo Family Selection Main Index

Please be patient.. I will be adding links here soon. :)
