Family Acraeidae
Overview: Family Acraeidae
Family Acraeidae comprises a smaller family which exists largely in Africa, though
there are a few individual species within this Family which reside in South America
and/or Australlia.
Some individuals of this Family have a defensive mechanism which will
eject a distasteful fluid from their thorax. It is said that there are
several other species in different families which mimic the coloration
of these indivduals to avoid predators.
