Although His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadaj assumed his kingship on June 9, 1946, he was officially proclaimed the ninth monarch of the Chakri Dynasty in accordance with the ancient royal tradition on May 5, 1950. On the day of his coronation, His Majesty invested his royal consort Mom Rajawongse Sirikit Kitiyara with the full tille and rank of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand.

Wearing the diamond-studded Great Crown of Victory and seated in state on Royal Throne underneath the nine-tiered Great White Umbella of State amidst full royal regalia in the Audience Hall of Amarindra, His Majesty responds to the people's good wishes.

His Majesty the King is seen during the Coronation Ceremony on May 5 th. B.E. 2493 (A.D. 1950) while seated on the Bhadrabith Throne beneath the Nine-tiered White Umbrella of State in the Baisal Daksin Hall of the Grand Palace in the act of pronouncing the Oath of Accession to the Throne of all Thai King which says "We will reign with righteousness, for the benefits and happiness of the Siamese people", while at the same time pouring ceremonial water symbolizing to the dedication of his whole being and efforts henceforward to the task of reigning over the Thai Nation according to the Ten-Fold Moral Principles of the Sovereign.
