Iguana Haiku By Dee Greene and Other Budding Poets

    Iguana Haiku by Dee Greene

      Gray lizard itch, claw.
      Gasping. Eyes bug. Slither rub.
      Patch sloughs.Green again.

      Alfalfa pellets
bits of orange and parsnip shreds
      ig finds salad bowl.

      Staring keen, head cocked.
Grab! Throw back, gulp down gullet.
      M.K.mixture gone.

      Vitamin D drops
      Pet shop sells miracle cure
      Bottle of hooey.

      Iggy bob. Stalking.
      Mount, grapple, roll with passion.
      Soiled towelfor laundry.

      Shower company
      iguana hangs on curtain.
      Careful! Is not soap.

      Minute hitch hikers!
      Iguana hide peppered red
      pesky mites abound.

      Pets cohabitate.
      Ig tail whips authority.
      Cats walk wide around.

      Is it boy or girl?
      Femoral pores show nothing
      "Pat" the iguana.

      Corkscrew green in tub
      Owners cry with sheer delight,
      "My ig pooped today!"

      Cages, heaters, lights,
      iguana accessories.
      Reptile Barbie dolls.

      Red heating lamp glows.
UV light flicks off. Show time!
      "Iguanas in Hell."

      Accidents happen.
      Body leaves tail with peril.
      Ig in two pieces.

      Oh no! Wash it again.
Ig sneaks a poop in my hair.
      This mousse won't work well.

      Potting soil moist, warm.
      Enclosed box so inviting.
      Plant my eggs today.

      Small friend's lifeless form.
The green is gone and we sob
      Iggy bobs no more.....

Haiku contributed by Dan Speziale, written by Michael Harris

      Legs of frogs
      Dinosaur back and head,
      Move to the next branch.

      Fierce attacking bite,
      Claws of hypodermic needle,
      Flicker tongue of love.

By Lord Doome Father of "The lizard Lestat"

"The lizard Lestat's" Haiku of shedding.

Skin falls to the cage floor.
      The predator comes to clean.
      I itch.
