Education and leadership. So many people are woefully unaware of the treasures of the world, from the exotic species living in such extremes as deep sea thermal vents, to the native flora and fauna of their own backyards. People care about what they know awareness is a vital step towards environmental responsibility. Education is often best passed on by example, by leadership -- whether that's in the classroom, the neighborhood, or in the larger world community. It's a fantastic step - yet not enough - for environmentally aware policies and laws to be created. They need to be implemented on every level: from private citizens to industrial corporations to government agencies. The term "grassroots" movement is particularly appropriate.

Our chance is to gain first an awareness of the future. We need a global responsibility of all
decisions.
Best would be if national governments are abolished or restricted in their authority. We would
need an effective birth control supported with a pension insurance system for all people in the
world.
Build windpower stations, create national parcs and other protected zones, avoid industrial zones,
gather reusable materials, develope soft tech industries. Become prepared for the unevitable.

I wait for an environmental disaster that wakes people up. The problems of this world are so big,
that no small solutions only can save it (they only make it a little better). We need to make people think of what they are doing, and affect
their opinions, raise our children in a better way (like the most important thing with Christmas is NOT the gifts!), and realize that the human
race isn't above the others!!! If this doesn't work, we have to crash democracy. A well-known Finnish ecospher, Pentti Linkola has created a
program for saving this planet: crash democracy, cut the birth rate, institute strict laws, don't let individuals make the decisions. Maybe this
is one solution.

AWARENESS!!! And a dedication by governments and citizens to change it NOW. And quickly. Environmental laws need to be

Things need to be speeded up in order to, hopefully, reverse the problems.

There isn't one solution, but many. We need
to change our fuel sources to cleaner, efficient ones, and controlled cutting of trees for grazing land for a start(studies have shown
that the forests are actually 'worth' more-if humans want to discuss money-because of all the life they contain and support). It has
to do with the Circle of Life. Everything needs everyone, and vice versus. (ideas=) Send out bulletins to people on the
internet-businesses, personal web sites, etc. (if you don't already do that) That way alot of people can 'hear' the message and not
waste alot of paper! Encourage companies to recycle. There is money in it-if that is what they want to talk about.

There are a million and one ways to protect the environment, but in my opinion, the most effective way of
doing so is to educate the people around you. Giving them explanation as to why it is vital to keep the integrity of our
environment should give them a clear understanding of why we should imply ourselves. By doing so, we make them understand
that, in the long run, conservation benefits everything and everybody, especially us.

Courage. The courage to change our life style. For a free society every few people use their gift's: their BRAIN. so many of us(humans) are willing to take to easy way out:

It is a very western notion to think that every problem has a solution (a product of our enlightenment era optimism). Contrarily, I am very
much of the opinion that we are in the grip of biological forces which are well beyond our ability to control or solve. Because there are so
many variables involved, no one can say with certainty when exactly the population bubble is finally going to burst. But whenever it does,
all who depend for their subsistence on the detritivorian niche which we have artificially created will become extirpated. If there is a
solution, it is an individual one only, the great mass of humanity is unsavable. But before the crash comes full force upon us, we can seek
to learn the skills of primitive survival. We can band together with like minded individuals to form mutual support groups (tribes). And we
can put our newly learned skills, and our newly forged communities into action, by living as much as possible outside the urban-industrial
system.

It's time we wake up to reality folks! There's a whole world outside of Babylon...We
don't need most of the stuff we have! If people just thought about where all of their
products come from, packaging, chemicals, synthetics, and where they go in the end
landfills, waterways, atmosphere, and how it affects thier own bodies and those of others
then maybe there's a chance for owning up to the responsibilty. Unfortunatly, most people
are too afraid to look at all the harm they've caused so they keep thier heads in the sand
like the majority do and it's all out of sight out of mind! To take responsibilty means
to change the way we live, to change the way we perceive reality and our place in it.
