Hippocampus histrix

Hippocampus histrix is normally between 4 and 5 inches in length. H. histrix is best distinguishable by the black stripe located around its nose. This seahorse has a 5 pointed crown, another distinguishable feature. Their colors include yellow, brown, tan and cream. They are more commonly known as Prickly seahorse or Yellow seahorse. Hippocampus histrix is found in the Indo-Pacific regions, around the Gulf of Thailand and in the South Sea of China.
