My 'Palmetum' in April 2008

Here are a few photos of my 'palmetum' in April 2008. Due to other commitments I didn't photograph my garden in early 2007, and then we were hit with the coldest temperatures in recorded history for this area. One morning the temperature dropped to -1C and caused quite a bit of damage to the more tender tropical species. Fortunately I only lost one palm due to this.

Because of the damage I have not included any 2007 photos. However, this year we have had good rain and growth has been quick, allowing a lot of the plants to recover. They are not back to 100% yet, but are on their way...

There are quite a few thumbnails on this page, so just click on them to display the larger images. Last updated April 2 2008
