This is the Gaboon Viper. They can reach a length of 6 + feet. They are an African rainforest snake, living primarily on the ground. Their location is Central to South Africa in forested areas. They tend to be lethargic, and will raise up and hiss usually before striking. |

They do not hibernate. They can lay 50 + eggs at one time. They eat mice and other rodents. They have excellent coloring and patterns to blend in with the leaves on the ground. Their head closely resembles a leaf, making great camouflage. The have the longest fangs of all snakes--2 inches long! |

This is the Rhinoceros Viper. They can reach lengths of up to 7 feet. They have two horn-like projections above their nostrils, hence their name. They, like the Gaboon Viper, live in tropical forests and wetlands. Their range is in Central and Western Africa. One of the fascinating facts about vipers, is that they constantly 'shed' their fangs and replace them every six to ten weeks! |

This is the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. They grow to a length of about 6 1/2 feet long. Their range is Central Arkansas to Southern California and south to Mexico. Rattlers account for about 60% of venomous snake bites. One reason is that they are easily provoked, and populous, so they and humans come into contact more often than some of the other venomous snakes. Still, when left alone, they will usually leave you alone. |
