The Colour Sergeant is a forest butterfly. The male is typical of the Athyma genus with black and white wings. The slide on the left shows the underside of the orange-and-brown female (form neftina).

The slide below shows the female Colour Sergeant spreading her wings. The species feeds on Glochidion borneensis and Mussaenda. The butterfly can be seen on bright sunny days, flying and gliding around Melastoma and Lantana bushes, on which flowers it feeds.
