THE STRAWBERRY STORY

When our first man was created and the first women given to him, they were happy together for awhile, but then started to quarrel until the first women left her husband and started towards the sun land in the east. First man followed her alone and grieving but first women kept walking on ahead and never looking back . Grandmother Sun took pity on him and asked him if he was still angry with his wife. First man said he was not. Grandmother Sun asked him if he would like to have her back again and the first man said he would.

So Grandmother Sun shined her sunbeam on a patch of grass and the finest ripe huckleberries came to life. The first women passed without so much as a glance. Then Grandmother Sun put a patch of blackberries in her path but first women passed without paying attention to them. Grandmother Sun spinkled the grass with white flowers in front of the first women and as Grandmother Sun shined her sunbeams the flower started to ripen into beautiful red ripe strawberries. First women stooped to gather a few to eat and then began to gather the strawberries in her dress. It gave time for first man to catch up to her and when he stood by her side, she looked up at him with a smile and offered him a strawberry. He smiled back at her and took her offering and together the walked back home.
