Similar to the Earth, Luna, the Earth’s Moon is hollow and is inhabited. The problem is that all animal life with the exception of human and Va-Gas is deadly poison forcing the humans and Va-Gas to become vegetarians or cannibals. Some Va-Gas are raised as meat animals.

The Moon, or Vah-Nah as it is called by the inhabitants, has no known inner sun. Rather light enters the inner-world via large craters, called ‘hoos’ and is trapped within providing light and warmth. It is presumed that the inner part of the hoos are craters which extend some distance above the surface to trap the air within.

MAPS

This is the original map as drawn by Edgar Rice Burroughs from the notes by Junian.

This is a detail of the areas visited by Julian in the Barsoom.

ART

This is a Va-Gas. Their origin is unknown but may be evolved from the original Greek Centaurs?
