Marguerite Chales

Some descendants of Jean-Baptiste Quenneville and Marguerite Chales are of the opinion that Marguerite Chales was adopted by Louis Chasle and Genevieve Gareau. It is believed that Marguerite was actually Navtive American, of the Sokoki’s or Mohawk. There is also the rumor that Genevieve Gareau was Métis.

I would like to get confirmation on this and I think mtDNA is the way to go (that is unless someone out there actually has documentation that Marguerite Chales is Native American). I did the mtDNA to see what haplogroup I belonged to and I am haplogroup X2b, which is European and I have been able to trace my maternal line back to France.

To do the mtDNA we need a female descendant of Marguerite Chales. This person has to be the daughter of the daughter of the daughter.

I am including on this page the female descendants that I know about of Marguerite Chales. If anyone is descended from these lines and would like to do the testing so we can find out for certain then please email me.
