THIS BIOGRAPHY IS OF

COLONEL JOE GUIRRERI, US AIR FORCE (Ret)

As the Chief of the Operations Division and the Assistant Deputy Manager, 
National Communications System, he was responsible in his last Air Force 
position for planning, programming, implementation, operations 
and standards for emergency preparedness and national security in 
support of the Manager and Deputy Manager of the National 
Communications System.

He Graduated from DePauw University, Greencastle,  Indiana with a BA 
in Theoretical Mathematics.  He also received his MA from University of 
Missouri, Columbia, Missouri.

He started his Air Force Career as the Deputy Chief of the 
Data Processing Division, Headquarters Air Force Reserve, Robins Air 
Force Base, Georgia. He later became the Deputy Chief of the Systems
and Programming Division as well as the Chief of the Processing 
Division.

Col Guirreri was next assigned as the Head of the Production Facility 
Operations Section, NATO Programming Center, Glons, Belgium. This 
facility was part of the Operations Division of Supreme Headquarters 
Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE).

He next was assigned to the Phase IV Program  at the Air Force Data 
Systems Design Center, Montgomery, Alabama. He also became the 
Chief of Vehicle Management Systems within the Logistics Systems 
Directorate.

Col Guirreri next became an Executive Officer for the Deputy 
Commander for Data Automation, Headquarters Air Force 
Communications Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He also was 
the Program manager for Office Automation Systems and later the Chief 
of Computer Systems Plans and Policies.

He next was assigned as the Deputy Chief Of the Technical Support 
Division, Joint Analysis Directorate of the Organization of the Joint 
Chiefs of Staff (OJCS), Pentagon, Va. He planned, programmed, and 
budgeted information systems and studies for the OJCS.

Col Guirreri was next assigned as the Director of Plans and Resources 
of the 7th Communications Group, Pentagon, Va. He was responsible 
for project control, civil engineering, budget, management analysis, 
acquisition, and contracting within the Grou in support of the Secretarty 
of Defense, the office of the Secretarty of the Air Force, and the Air 
Staff.

He next became the Deputy Commander of the 1961st Communications 
Group, Clark Air Base, Republic of the Philippines. While there he also 
was the Deputy Director for Command, Control, Communications, and 
Computers for the Joint Task Force during an abortive Coupe of the 
Philippine government.

Col Guirreri became the Commander of the 1962nd Communications 
Group, Kadena, Okinawa, Japan. He also became the Vice Commander 
of the 18th Combat Support Wing and also the Deputy Commander of 
the 18th Support Group under one of the first Air Force Composite 
Wings.

He next became the Commander of the Defense Information Systems 
Agency-Europe. He managed the implemetation of major computer and
communications systems and networks during his tenure.

His professional activities include Military Operations and Research 
Society and the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association 
(AFCEA). He was the President fo the Okinawa and the Stuttgart 
Chapters. 
Col Guirreri was awarded the 1996 Federal Leadership Award with the Year 2000 Federal Committee.
He was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal upon his retirement 1 August, 1997.
