Q40 Linux Home Page

Best Viewed by Lynx, Mosaic, w3 or some other free browser. Reason for this is that Geocities will add java(scripts) or -applets to this page that may seriously confuse or break some "advanced" browsers.

Welcome to the linux-q40 homepage. To get the latest news on the project, tune in to the linux-m68k and ql-developers mailing list or email me.

Linux-Q40 distribution available !

Yep, a real distribution with easy installation and everything on a single CD (and 2 floppy disks optionally).
See linux-q40.sourceforge.net for detaills how to get it.
List of errata will be available soon, watch out on ql-developers.

Everything moved to Sourceforge !!

Linux/Q40 mailing list

send 'subscribe ql-developers' in the body of a message to majordomo@nvg.ntnu.no

Archives for the list will be available here: http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/q40/index.htm

Linux-Q40 status:

2.4.3-pre3 available.

Precompiled kernel, loader, kernel diffs and other tools are available from ftp.uni-erlangen.de:/pub/Linux/680x0/q40/

To get latest info, email me. 2.1.127 and most 2.2.x versions including 2.2.17 are running stable. The best release so far is 2.2.6, can be found here ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de:/pub/Linux/680x0/q40/precompiled/

supported hardware:

The necessary changes have not yet been fully incorporated into the linux source tree - fortunately the diff is now very small. Diffs for some releases are available here: ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de:/pub/Linux/680x0/q40/diffs/

Any attempt to break or hang the kernel failed, howevere there are some 2.2.x.pre versions with known MMU/cache problems on the 68040. Only remaining problem is the unusual aspect ratio of the screen - the Xfree server doesn't yet have a way to adjust for it.
