(6/18/96)-The big question around all the newsgroups nowadays is the expected patch for Descent 2. The patch is expected to fix many glitches and bugs in the game itself (hopefully that slight pause between tracks on the Redbook CD). Besides that, there should also be some added features to Descent 2. For example, the game will keep track, and rank you for your past Multiplayer games. (should go well with Kali!) The release for this patch, says Interplay, is expected on the first week of July. The date for the native Win 95 versions, is of yet, still unknown.
(6/21/96)-The Patch has just been released and is now available for downloading. The Win95 patch has yet to be released, though. However, it should be out in a couple of weeks.
To see the new features added, and all of the bugs fixed in the patch, go to Parallax's update page.
(7/5/96)- Descent 2 for the PowerPC is finally out! Now all you Macplayers can join in the phenomena that is Descent 2. If anybody has any news concerning the multiplayer compatibility between PC and PowerPC versions of Descent 2, please let me know!
(7/18/96)- Here's the Info you've been waiting for! Someone out there in cyber land answered my question of the compatibility between MAC Descent 2, and PC Descent 2!
Here it is:
"We're set up on a Windows NT server, each running Windows 95 network clients, over a twisted pair Ethernet network.
We currently have 4 MACs and 4 PCs playing Descent II anarchy.
MACs can play MACs with absolutely no problem whatsoever. And, of course, Win95 PCs can play PCs with no problems (even within Windows).
But to get the PCs to play with MACs, the PCs have to restart in DOS mode and load the pure DOS IPX drivers... pretty much the same as Descent I.
Don't know if this will be addressed in the Win95 native version... one would hope so... but I'm not holding my breath.
The only problems we've had are a few levels will cause "missing packet" errors for the MACs. Seems to be the levels with no reactor. No amount of fiddling with the packet size or short packet option will clear up the problem. But most levels play beautifully.
In a stroke of genius, the Mac version of Descent II
now understands the standard D2 .MN2 file... unlike
Descent I... which had to have the Line Feeds stripped
out. So sharing levels between the two platforms is
quite easy. Just take a PC Descent II level and drop
it in the Mac MISSIONS folder and they work."

Thanks Carl!
Know any other Descent 2 news?? Give it to me!!
If your on Kali (reg or unreg), look for me. I'm always up for a good game of Descent 2, Duke3D or NetMech. My user name is SpankE, and I can be found at Central, Starlink, Islandnet, or GCNETMECH servers. Cya on!
I am also the proud member of both, the PPG Descent 'guild', and the Grand Council NetMech 'guild'.
