I took up a job offer with SAP, the leading manufacturer of ERP software and internet business platforms in July 2000, after quite a while of work in the railway industry and a short stunt in a consulting outfit. SAP is THE German software firm, and has established quite a position in the world market.
With the arrival of the Internet, markets started to shift even in the stolid ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning, i. e. the software that runs the commercial backbone activities of companies) field, and so I ended up designing and supporting trade platforms for the internet, so called B2B marketplaces.
This is me at work.

I do a lot of odd jobs, mainly in providing infrastructure, service and consulting.
My favourite personal productivity tool is still my trusty Newton MP2100d (in fact my third Newton, I still have an MP130d and an MP2000)... even now that those Dumbasses at Apple chucked that superior technology into the dustbin. The much-advised "Mac-based handheld" didnot show up, instead they served another (admittedly spiffy) laptop, theI-Book. Oh well. As long as I don'thave to cope with WinCE or PalmPilots, that's all right.
As a matter of fact, my Newt is still a great conversation piece... I`m writing in a terrible scrawl, and the fact that my Newt makes a reasonable job out of that alone is good enough for some excitement. Take down somebody`s address, scribble "lunch with xyz" on the screen, touch "assist" and see the Newton create the appointment takes them one step beyond ;).
Here's a little animated GIF of a fully loaded Newton.

And, of course, there's Linux.
