BinWizard v3.0 Copyright 1999-2000 Zag
=========================================
ALL USE OF THIS PROGRAM IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
The documentation is currently only in the form of a small faq. But the
program is very easy to use.
What is new?
============
v3.0: Mounting is now much better. Alot of improvements, it actually shows
up as a cd, unmounting supported, binwizard can be exited with a cd
mounted, etc. No more ;1 at the end of filenames.
v2.0: One very Important change. You will now be able to mount a bin/cue
as a drive under win9x (no NT4 or win2k support). See Below for
more info.
v1.01: Minor bugfixes.
v1.0: First public release.
How do I Install it?
====================
If you want to use the mount function you must install the driver.
Start the control panel and choose 'add new hardware'. When being asked if
you want windows to search for new hardware, select 'no'. Select
'SCSI controllers' from the list and click next. Click 'have disk' and select
the dir where you unzipped the program. Click ok. Select 'ZSoft Virtual SCSI
host adapter' and click next. Click finish. Reboot is not necessary unless
windows ask you to reboot. You will now get a new cd-rom drive in the explorer.
If there is no new drive in the list, reboot.
Important about the Mount function
==================================
The mount function is improved alot from the earlier versions. It emulates the
actual hardware instead of a full filesystem, which makes it alot more stable.
It havent crashed on me once and works so well i play games with it instead of
burning them.
When a bin/cue is mounted as a cd. The drive will disappear from the drive list
in explorer. Typing the driveletter in explorers address bar make it appear again.
It is also gone from all drivelists in 'open file' dialogs. To get around this
problem do like this. When there is no cd mounted, create a shortcut on the desktop
to the cd-rom drive that is the fake one. If you want to access the drive in a
'open file' dialog it can be found under 'desktop'.
Vcd's are not supported for mounting, if anyone want to give me the vcd white
book so i can implement this, please feel free to contact me (see below).
What is this?
=============
This is a program to either mount a bin/cue as a drive or extract files
from a bin/cue file. It extracts all files and places them in their
respective directories.
For extraction it supports all bin/cue files that are normaly used,
including vcd's and bootable cd's. It also supports long filenames using
the joliet extension.
Why should I use this?
======================
There is no other program that lets you mount a bin/cue as a drive!
And instead of using first fireburner to binchunk and then winimage to extract
the files from a bin/cue file. Simply use this one program. It's also
completely free for anyone to use for as long as they wish and neither
fireburner or winimage is completely free. It also extracts the contents of
a vcd bin/cue so you dont have to use vcdgear and remember all thoose
command line switches anymore.
How do I use it?
================
Mounting:
For mounting just select a bin/cue and click mount. If you want to mount
something else, just select a new bin/cue and click mount. To unmount
simply click unmount. You can also unmount a cd by right-clicking on the
drive and select 'eject'.
Extracting:
Or select a cue file and an output directory and press the Extract button.
Wait until its done or if you want to end the extraction process simply
press the Stop button. The progressbar shows how much of the extraction
that is done.
Do you plan on improving the program in the future?
===================================================
The plan is to change the mounting interface so you can just right-click on
a .cue and select mount to mount it. This will probably come in the next month
or two. I will try to solve the disappearing drive problem, although i'm quite
clueless right now.
I will maybe include support to mount drives under NT4 and/or win2k sometime in
the future. Very late this year at the earliest, perhaps not at all.
Is there any known bugs?
========================
Yes. Apart from the disappearing drive there is one minor bug that i know of.
The extracted directories creationtime is only set to their original time under
NT4 and win2000. Under win95/98 they get the current systemtime. If anyone know
how to set the creationtime for a directory under win95/98 please contact
me (see below).
