EASTERN HEROES

MOVIE SPOILER> CAUTION UPON READING FURTHER

Starring Robin Shou

Robin plays a bad guy named "Hawk". His brother was killed by a cop, (Conan Lee) And he has sworn revenge on the whole family of that cop. Starting with the cop's pregnant sister, and brother in law killing both them and their unborn child, onto his pregnant wife who was raped by Hawk's gang, miscarried then later died, to his brother who was blown up. Can this cop stop Hawk before anymore blood is shed?

I didn't like this movie for 3 reasons. One the Rape scene was handled in a way people in America are not comfortable viewing. Especially due to the high rape factors. 100 people I had watch, then interveiwed them about this movie said that they had been raped, was close to someone who had been raped, knew about someone who had been raped, and were related to a rape victim. This scene lasted a good 5 minutes at least and many of these people whether they were direct victims or victims from relation, had to sit and relive the experience with a very violent graphic rape scene that lasted just too long, and could have been cut and edited in so many ways to make it quick, bearable and politically correct. Now, I'm not one to say do what is politically correct all the time. I believe in artistic merit, but when 100 people said that scene turned them off to a movie, what are other viewers saying? its a gauge your audience. Know their likes and dislikes so that you don't lose viewers from something that could have easily been avoided with better direction techniques. (I have never known or dealt with a rape victim, but it was a scene that made me uncomfortable enough to walk out.) The other reason was the ending.  After his sister, brother in law, their unborn child, his wife and her unborn child and his brother are all killed, after Hawk goes after him and tries to kill him, in self defense he kills hawk, the end there's a black out and the voice over says "Officer so and so was convicted to 3 years for manslaughter" Or something like that and that is how it ends. Definately not a movie with an American ending. But since Robin was great as usual, instead of the 0 it would have gotten, I give it a
