Moses and the Burning Bush

Exodus 3: 1-6

1 ¶Now Moses{1} kept the flock of Jethro{2} his father in law, the priest of Midian{3} : and he led the flock to the backside {4} of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, [even] to Horeb {5} .

2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush : and he looked{6} , and, behold {7} , the bush burned with fire, and the bush [was] not consumed{8} .

3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, {9} and see this great sight , why the bush is not burnt{10} .

4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside {11} to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush , and said, Moses, Moses . And he said, Here [am] I .

5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither {12} : put off thy shoes from off thy feet {13} , for the place whereon thou standest [is] holy ground.{14}

6 Moreover he said, I [am] the God of thy father, the God of Abraham{15} , the God of Isaac{16} , and the God of Jacob{17} . And Moses hid his face ; for he was afraid to look upon God. {18}

This story is actually a type of the Resurrection. In order to fully understand the typology, read the following:
Baptism of the Holy Spirit and with fire (Matthew 3:7-12)

The bush burning in the midst is the type of the purifying baptism of fire by the Holy Spirit in our hearts. The inward baptism of fire is also the type of the outward baptism of fire that will occur at the 2nd Coming. So, this story is a type of the Resurrection. On Resurrection Day we will see the antitypical fulfillment, when the glory of the Lord revealed brings the Outward Baptism by Fire which will consume our bodies. We will then receive our reward: a glorified body. So, the type is the purifying fire of the Holy Spirit consuming the things not of him in our hearts. This is the bush burning in the midst that is not consumed. The antitype is the purifying fire of Jesus consuming our bodies at his 2nd Coming.

Midian means contention, strife

Interpretation:

If something is only seen from the backside it is the type. When the front is seen it is the antitype.

The word "Even" is a Twicespeak prepositional phrase. There are two mountains of God here. Horeb means a waster

Interpretation:

Moses looked and then he beheld. He looked not once but twice!

Interpretation:

This is the secret of God acted out through the body temple. When you behold (lo) someone you look with your right eye and your left eye. Right is the type. Left is the antitype

Interpretation:

Notice the fire was in the midst or middle of the bush, but the outside of the bush was not consumed. This is the type of the
purifying work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. Our hearts are consumed by his refining fire that purges out the things that are not
of him. However, the outside appearance looks basically unchanged, just like the outside branches of the bush that are not consumed.

Interpretation:

How can God complete his refining work of fire in our hearts in the Last Days? When we TURN ASIDE from the world's path to give our lives totally to Christ and his path. Then we will see the purifying flame of his Spirit transform our hearts.

Interpretation:

It was a mystery why the bush was not burnt. This is the type. What is the mystery?

1 Corinthians 15:51

Interpretation:

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.

The mystery is THE RESURRECTION!

Interpretation:

God did not call Moses until he turned aside. We must heed the call to turn aside from the world's path before we will be able to hear God's call to us.

Interpretation:

Draw not nigh hither is the antitype. It is the same as something being far away.

Interpretation:

Put off thy shoes from off thy feet is basically a repeated phrase. Put off thy shoes not once but twice.

Interpretation:

When you are bare footed, your feet are uncovered. When Jesus returns, we will be laid bare before him. We will be holy as He is holy, just like the ground Moses stood on.

Interpretation:

Abraham means father of a great multitude

Interpretation:

Isaac means he shall laugh

Interpretation:
