Moses and God's Glory: Type of the 2nd Coming
Exodus 33:18-23
18 And he said, I beseech thee {1} , shew me thy glory{2} .
19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee{3} , and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee{4} ; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious{5} , and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy {6} .
20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face{7} : for there shall no man see me, and live{8} .
21 And the LORD said, Behold{9} , [there is] a place by me{10} , and thou shalt stand upon a rock{11}
22 And it shall come to pass {12} , while my glory passeth by{13} , that I will put thee in a clift of the rock{14} , and will cover thee with my hand{15} while I pass by{16} :
23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts{17} : but my face shall not be seen{18} .
This story is a type of the 2nd Coming of Christ. In the type God's glory is just seen IN PASSING. In the antitype at the 2nd Coming it is fully revealed. In the type, Moses only sees God's back side. At the 2nd Coming we will see him face to face and know him even as we ourselves are known. In the type, Moses is set in a place BY God. At the 2nd Coming, we will go to be WITH God. The repeated phrases "will be gracious" and "will show mercy" tell us that God will show grace and mercy to his people that seek his glory a second time just like God did to Moses. In the type, God places Moses upon a rock to stand. Standing is both typical and antitypical because you stand on your right (type) and your left (antitype) feet. Just as Moses yearned to see God's glory, so God will reveal his glory to those who long for his return at the 2nd Coming.

Glimpses of the Resurrection
Interpretation:
I pray thee is the type. I beseech thee is the antitype because it means to pray now and more urgently..
Interpretation:
Moses only saw a passing glimpse of God's glory, not a full revealing, so it only the type because it is incomplete.
Interpretation:
Anything that is passing is the type. Anything that is fully revealed is the antitype. Things that are incomplete will pass away.
Interpretation:
Anything before is the type because it came first. Anything after is the antitype.
God proclaimed his name before Moses. Moses already knew God as Jehovah. God always reveals a part of his character or plan through his name. No doubt God was going to reveal a new name to Moses in answer to Moses prayer "that he might know him". This new name God declared to Moses is a reflection of how it will be at the 2nd Coming. Jesus will be declaring the new name that the Father gave him for overcoming at the 2nd Coming. This will be the name that every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess too.
Interpretation:
Notice the repeated phrase "will be gracious". This shows a typical and antitypical fulfillment.
Just as God was gracious to Moses, He will be gracious to those who are his at the 2nd Coming
Interpretation:
Here is another repeated phrase "will shew mercy", pointing to both a typical and antitypical fulfillment. Just as God showed mercy to Moses, so God will show mercy to those who have longed to see his glory at the 2nd Coming
Interpretation:
God would not let Moses see his face. Why? Because God's face will be seen at the 2nd Coming. It is the full revealing of God's glory
that will bring about the Resurrection (for those who are in the grave) and the First Death, death of our flesh (for those who are alive).
Interpretation:
When God's glory is revealed at the 2nd Coming, no man shall see God and live. That is, we will all experience the first death, the death of our flesh bodies.
Interpretation:
This is the secret of God acted out through the body temple. When you behold (lo) someone you look with your right eye and your left eye. Right is the type. Left is the antitype
Interpretation:
In the type, Moses is placed beside God. At the 2nd Coming we will be with God and see him face to face
Interpretation:
Who will stand when He appears and his glory is revealed? Those who are standing upon the rock
There are two standings: a typical standing and an antitypical standing

Interpretation:
Just as it came to pass for Moses, so it will come to pass again
Interpretation:
God's glory only passed by before Moses. This was the type. At the 2nd Coming his glory will be fully revealed. This is the antitype.
Interpretation:
Moses is placed in a hidden place (the clift of the rock), this is the type.
Interpretation:
Hidden things or things done in secret are the type. Revealed things are the antitype.
Moses is covered with God's hand because this is the type.
Interpretation:
Anything that is passing is the type. Anything that is fully revealed is the antitype. Things that are incomplete will pass away.
Interpretation:
If something is only seen from the backside it is the type. When the front is seen it is the antitype.
Interpretation:
If something is only seen from the backside (not face to face) it is the type. When the front is seen (face to face) it is the antitype.
