The Falling Away
Mark 14:26-31
Mark 14:26 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives{1} .
27 And Jesus saith {2} unto them, All ye shall be offended{3} because of me this night {4} : for it is written, I will smite the shepherd,{5} and the sheep shall be scattered.
28 But after {6} that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee{7} .
29 But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended {8} , yet will not I.
30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day {9} , even in this night , before the cock crow twice, {10} thou shalt deny me thrice.
31 But he spake the more vehemently , If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise . Likewise {11} also said they all .
We should learn from the wisdom in these verses. Peter thought that he was strong enough not to deny the Lord when persecution came. But instead of watching and praying, Peter slept. Those who will not watch and pray in these Last Days will be the first to fall away. Just as God called Peter, James and John to watch and pray because persecution was coming, so the Holy Spirit is speaking the same warning through the word today. Let us heed the word and take heed lest we fall.

Interpretation:
The "Mount of Olives" can be translated the "Mount of anointing" or "Mount of corruption". Those who will watch and pray will be anointed. Those who sleep will be corrupted.
Interpretation:
Jesus is speaking. God speaks not once but twice. Also, anything written in the word speaks twice.
Interpretation:
The footnote in my KJV Bible for the word "offended" says "fall away". Just as the disciples fell away when persecution came, so many shall fall away when persecution comes in the Last Days. Make no mistake about it. Persecution is coming. We must prepare ourselves.
Interpretation:
There was night first, then the day. So, night is the type. Day is the antitype.
Interpretation:
Jesus is the Good Shepherd who gives his life for his sheep. Interpretation: Anything before is the type because it came first. Anything after is the antitype. Interpretation: The root word for Galilee means "folding doors". Notice how Jesus opened the doors and prepared the way for the disciples in Galilee. Interpretation: Simon Peter is so confident that he will not fall away. But I would submit to you that those who do not watch and pray WILL FALL AWAY when persecution comes just as the Peter did. Interpretation: Notice both day (the antitype) and night (type) are mentioned. This event happens not once but TWICE! Interpretation: How many times does the cock crow? TWICE. When do cocks crow? In the morning, usually right at sunrise. Thus, the falling away will occur at the beginning of the final seven years. Interpretation: If you are like the wise, you will heed the warning these passages give us. We must watch and pray. Peter thought that he was prepared for the persecution, but he was not. Now is the time to know the Father's voice and watch and pray.
John 10:11 I am
life for the sheep
.
Notice there is not one Good Shepherd but TWO! In the Last Days, Pastors that have only been hirelings will abandon their congregations when persecution comes. But those Pastors who have a heart for the sheep, like David did, like Jesus did, will
stay to lead the sheep.
1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
The disciples thought they would stand. They did not.
