Seedtime and Harvest

Genesis 8:22

Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth{1} , seedtime {2} and harvest , and cold and heat , and summer and winter , and day and night shall not cease.

When a seed is planted, the seed is hidden in the ground. Thus, seedtime is the type. The harvest is the antitype. This is the time when the secret thing (the seed) that has been hidden in the ground springs forth and some type of fruit is revealed. The harvest will be at the end of the age. Before God creates a new heaven and a new earth, we will be judged according to our works (this is the harvest of the seed we have planted). When God created the earth, fruit bearing seed was planted. When God destroys the earth, there will be a final harvesting of the seed that has been sown. Seedtime and harvest only continue as long as the earth endures, just as Gen 8:22 tells us. Thus, before the first earth is destroyed, the final harvest of the earth has to occur.

Notice all these things shall not cease while the earth remaineth. This implies that when God makes a new heaven and a new earth, these things shall cease and the final harvest will occur.

The seed comes first, then the fruit at the harvest. So, seed is the type. Harvest is the antitype.
