CHAPTER 6
They all slept in the next morning. Cindy was the first one to get up, at 11 o'clock. By noon everyone was awake and after they had had lunch, they decided to go down on the beach. To get to the beach you had to go down stairs. The staircase had been added because there was a cliff, not very high, about 5 meters, surrounding the lake.
It was a nice beach, especially because it was a private beach and nobody was there. But the water was cold and full of jellyfish. "It really stings when one of them touches you. Be careful guys." Lauren warned.
"Have you even been burnt by a jellyfish?" Nick asked her.
"No, but my sister has once and she cried for hours. She was pretty young though, so maybe that's why she cried for so long."
"Well, we'll be careful. Let's go in! I wanna swim." Nick said enthusiastically.
They all took their clothes off and only kept their bathing suits. Nick was the first one to run in the water. He stopped abruptly.
"It's cold!" He exclaimed.
Lauren followed him close. She stepped into the water. "Aw, it's warmer than usual today. It's usually so much colder."
"You're kidding me, right? It's usually what, an ice ring here?"
Lauren ignored the comment and walked deeper in the water. When she had water up to her hips, she took a deep breath and dived. She got up and looked at her three friends. Cindy had water to her knees, so did Brian, but Nick only had water up to his ankles.
"What's going on, Florida boy?" Lauren teased. "Come on, Mr. I-love-the-ocean, get in the water."
Cindy walked farther in the water and dived in, splashing Brian next to her. He shrieked. "Yikes! That's cold!"
"Told ya!" Nick yelled.
Cindy came back up and laughed at him. She looked at Lauren and they exchanged a mischievous glance. Lauren walked back towards Nick.
"Oh, no, lady. Don't you dare." Nick said.
She took some water in her hands and threw it at Nick. "Hey! Stop it!"
During that time, Brian had gotten in the water. "Hey Frack!" He yelled. "You're the only one that's still dry!"
Since Nick had his pride and his ocean lover reputation to keep on, he dived in the water too. They swam and played around for about an half hour when Brian let out a scream.
