CHAPTER 6
When Lauren came out of the shower in Nick's room, she saw him tipping someone who had brought extra bedsheets. He saw she was out of the bathroom, so he thanked the maid, closed the door and turned back to Lauren, smiling.
"I got extra sheets. This way I won't be freezing on the couch."
"Nick, you don't have to do that."
"Oh, but I do." He said, kissing her cheek and going to the couch to put the sheets there.
"I could've slept on the couch. I mean it's your room and your bed..."
He sat on top of the pile of sheets on the couch. "It's the hotel's room, the hotel's bed and not mine. Beside, you need your sleep. You've had a hard day, and you've got promo and such tomorrow, and a concert. I'm on vacation and I've slept on the plane on the way here. I'll live even if I don't sleep that well."
"At least we could ask for a roller-over bed or something..."
"Already did. They don't have any... So we settled over bedsheets." He shrugged. "Y'know, it could've been worse. I could be sleeping on the floor."
She yawned. "Sorry to cut this short but I'm beat."
"Yeah, it's late, we should probably sleep."
She climbed in bed and turned to Nick, who had gotten up from the couch and was placing the sheets on it, to create the impression of a bed. "Do you snore?"
He smiled. "I don't think so. I've never heard myself snore. But then again, I usually sleep at night, therefore I wouldn't be able to hear myself if I did."
She turned her back to him and pulled the covers over her head. "If you snore, I'll get up and stuff your dirty socks in your mouth."
"Note to self," Nick said. "Hide socks."
She laughed. "But seriously," Nick said. "I don't think I do. I share a room with my brother at home and he's never complained. And Brian and I used to share rooms on the road too and he's never complained either."
"Fine, so your mouth will be sock-free."
"Great! I don't like the taste of dirty socks that much..."
"Prefer dirty underwear?"
"No I don't! Gross!"
"I was just kidding." She laughed. She reached over to the bedside table to turn off the lamp. "Goodnight Nicky."
"Night Lauren."
