Being a Brief History of the Parias World
Parias takes place on our world in our time line, yet the planet has been overun by the Government, a warrier
based society from an alternative time line. This means all those little details that don't seem to make sense aren't suppose
to (like that bionic woman). The resulting world is very close to ours in some ways but in other differs drastically. The story takes place in 1996, only because of
the technological advances brought to our world by the Government many "futuristic devices" exist. In order to understand the Government
better it is appropriate to outline what makes their time line different from ours.
Dual World Theorem
Being a Dissertation on the Corellation between Roman Corruption and the Invention of the Printing Press and their effects on Modern Man
On the Government's world Rome never fell. This was a direct result of one plumber deciding not to make pipes out of lead. Thus, the Romans did
not suffer from lead induced madness. The corruption that atypified the decline of Roman society in our time line was not as apparent and was squashed by
moral upstanding citizens. Caligula had no orgies (well maybe just a few) and Nero did not make his horse anything. As a result of this the Vandals and the
Visagoths found Rome a harder nut to crack and went home without having
sacked or pillaged (well maybe just a little, hordes being what they are).
The famous Pax Romanus flourished and basically the Dark Ages never happened. What we consider the
Renaissance happened directly (and thus was not called the Renaissance) after Rome fell in our
world. It was at this time the printing press was invented by a person other
than Guttenburg (maybe one of his distant ancestors). Society thus trundled on,
happily advanced for its time. There were times of war followed by times of
peace, creating advances of modern warfare which were later adjusted for daily
use. Since the empires of the English and the French never developed, the art of
naval warfare never advanced past triemes. Thus the Romans never looked towards
the other major landmass until their quest for space power brought them into
contact with another major military power... the Mayans.
In this time line the Mayans were not annihilated by the Aztecs. Instead they
too flourished through invention and innovation. Also fascinated by the astral
bodies, the Mayans turned their sights upon the stars rather than their
eastern cousins. Thus it was much to their amazement when finally landing
on the moon, 300 years before Armstrong even looked up at our moon and
wondered, that they faced an armed camp of Romans. Relationships between
the two super powers, strained since their meeting 50 years before,
degraded into an all out race for control of the solar system.
Thus by the time the year 1960 rolled around the Roman and Mayan Empires
had resolved their differences and consolidated their hold on the Human
Interglactic Empire. (a little ostentatious for two solar systems but
humans are subject to hyperbole now and then). This peace was bought at
the cost of many years of bloody struggle between the two powers and mankind
had become tired. Rebellion led to a highly peaceful race that focusses
on the good side of scientific advance. Those few warriers who refuse to
give up their guns and settle down as farmers have been tracked as criminals
from one side of the "Human Interglactic Empire" to the other. Left with one
last stronghold (a planet ignored by most as unfit for human life), these fugitives
came up with a plan born of desperation. Their own scientists, working
night and day, found a pan-dimensional gate suitably for gaining access
to other time lines. With hate in their hearts, the warriers planned a
cunning attack to gain them total control over the world they chose - ours.
Once on this new world they planned to yoke its strength to create a fighting
force to overwealm the Human Interglactic Empire and win it for themselves.
It was in 1960 that the warriers, hence forth know as the Government, appeared
in our skies and wrecked havoc on our world. Their domination was total
and complete, with only a few areas of resistance. The world has become
a fierce and dangerous place, with our children being groomed to become
the Government's fighting force. Yet the most insidious plan is yet to
be revealed. In order to create the best fighting force possible the
Government decided to create superhumans to form the nucleus of their
army. One of our scientists, his ego pandered to by the Government, worked upon
these genetic experiments. There were many failed attempts, resulting in
humans with super strengths but major mental deficiencies. These botched
things have become the Annihilators, a terrible force lead by General Fox
under the control of Scarab.
Ten years after the Conquest the Doctor had his first success. Yet besought
by the beginnings of a guilty consience he secreted the child and left him
at an orphanage. Over the next four years he was to create five more
successful children, each time leaving them at a different orphanage in
the middle of the night, before he was discovered by Scarab's agents.
Locked up and tortured, he endured years of pain without revealing the
identity of his children.
Meanwhile our earth is yet to learn of the Government's plans for it.
Citizens are aware of the pan-dimensional gate as an evil which brings
hordes of armies upon them, yet know little of the Empire on the other
side. Were they to know the peace loving nature of the people on the
other side, their horror at the Government's plans would know no bounds...
