Poems inspired by Clusters

These are word links from a cluster I did around the word "PRAYER". It was an exercise before writing a song on the subject. (An excerpt from the final song lyrics follow.)

Prayer: -plea-cry-call-S.O.S.
Prayer: -request-virtues.
Prayer: -intone-detach-reinvigorate-reanimate-rejoice-refresh and gladden-spirit-transcends-time-space.
Prayer: -head bowed-down-tree with head bent down-paisley-Persian
Prayer: -meditation-quiet-calm-peaceful.

PRELUDE TO A PRAYER
© 1996 Laurie Early

Sitting in a circle
separated by the distance between our chairs.
Nothing else divides us.
We calm our inner voices,
set aside all cares.

Shoes upon the floor, and
when we shut the door
we begin to be aware.
Hearts that beat as one
signal we've begun
our prelude to a prayer.

Joining hands together
we bow our heads to show how deeply we feel His love.
Now our souls are quiet
connecting to the power surging from above.
Transcending time and space
we find a special place
and begin to be aware
Hearts that beat as one
signal we've begun
our prelude to a prayer.

My daughter wrote the following two poems after clustering on different colors. The first was written when she was 7-years old, the second when she was 9.

BLACK
By Meghann Early

Shiny pitch black makes me
feel dangerous because I
think dark colors are very
dangerous like a robber
all dressed in black the
night is dark black
a blackout is dangerous

RED & WHITE ROSES
By Meghann Early

Sweet is the Rose
that is white and Red
who speaks for itself
and grows in a Bed
next to the cherry
blossoms left from
the daisies there they
grow very hazy
they blossom and grow
they grow so tall that
sombody picks them
unless they fall
