THE BAB'S TREE
(Oh, Beautiful Orange Tree)
© 1990 Laurie Early

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
to a sacred home it gave it's shade.
There once was a beautiful orange tree,
how I wish that's where it could have stayed.

It had grown so tall and proud
that it could almost touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
should feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
that bore its fruit for all who came.
There once was a beautiful orange tree,
and sheltered pilgrims from the rain.

It had grown so tall and proud
that it could almost touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
should feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
and the pilgrims took the oranges home.
There once was a beautiful orange tree,
and they saved the seeds to grow their own.

It had grown so tall and proud
that it could almost touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
should feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
but some who did not understand,
killed the beautiful orange tree,
and a sadness swept throughout the land.

It had grown so tall and proud
that it could almost touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
should feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)

There once was a beautiful orange tree,
but it will grow again someday.
There will be a beautiful orange tree,
and under its branches we will stay.

and, it will grow so tall and proud
that it will touch the sun
a symbol of the love that we
will feel for everyone.
Oh, beautiful orange tree
(Oh, beautiful orange tree.)
